About Cyprus
Cyprus,
located in the
Mediterranean, is just a short flight away from anywhere in Europe (about
2-3 hours from central Europe, and 4.5 hours flight time away from the
UK), and has seen in recent years a huge explosion in both tourism, and
people wishing to purchase property here. With its 2 international
airports, any part of Cyprus can be reached in less than a couple of hours
drive, and the major upgrade of the roads and motorways in Cyprus makes
travel a pleasure - traffic congestion is rare, fuel prices are low and
the air is clear - perfect for those open top drives or bike rides. The
popular tourist resorts of Protaras and Ayia Napa are less than a 45
minute drive away from Larnaca Airport, and the Capital city of Cyprus,
Nicosia, can be reached by car from these areas within one hour.
Cyprus is rapidly becoming a key trading centre between Europe and the
Middle East, with many offshore companies and global companies choosing to
open
offices here. The Capital of Cyprus, Nicosia, and the trading centre,
Limassol, have seen huge expansion both in terms of trade and flourishing
'society life' - bars, restaurants, theatres, leisure facilities and shops
have grown to meet the ever increasing consumer demand.
Away from the commercial centres, Cyprus offers unparalleled coastlines -
miles and miles of unspoilt coastline, the majestic Mount Olympus in the
Troodos mountain range, historical sites and innumerable places of
interest to visit.
Add to this a year round climate which offers fantastic summer sun, a mild
winter in which people still hold regular outdoor barbeques, and an
opportunity for people of all ages to participate in a wide range of year
round activities, from walking, skiing, climbing and cycling, through to
water sports, extreme sports, sailing and simply relaxing and taking life
easy.
During the summer months, the popular holiday resorts of Protaras, Ayia
Napa, Larnaca and Limassol
really come alive, with a pace of life to suit all, from those who wish to
escape from it all, or for those who wish to party until the early hours.
A chance to spend days out cruising on boats along the coastline, eat
traditional foods at many of the picturesque harbours - the choice really
is endless, and with so much variety, it really does require years to
fully appreciate the warmth and friendliness that makes Cyprus a fantastic
place to live and visit.
